Tell Your Story With Free Workshops in May!

Cherwell Theatre Company present artistic work created by young people in their second

‘Tell Your Story Festival’ for Banbury.

Our Inaugural 'Tell Your Story Festival' features a series of creative workshops and events taking place in community settings in Banbury, bringing Young People and Community Groups together with professional artists to present their story in their own words through visual and creative storytelling.

From May through to July we will be running workshops to new and existing youth groups, schools and community partners, culminating in a 2 day event, on 1st and 2nd July 2023, in Banbury Town Centre to celebrate and platform their creative work through drama, art, music and more!

May Workshop Week: Free Sessions for age 11+

Date: Tuesday 30th May - Friday 2nd June 2023 Time: 10.00am-4.00pm Address: Banbury College (main campus), Broughton Road, Banbury, OX16 9QA. Location: Banbury Studio Theatre

What will this workshop involve? Meet and work with artists Tristan, Jess, Simon, Ben and Raffi to further develop and rehearse pieces of theatre, stand up, poetry, music and movement based work written by young people for the Tell Your Story Festival on 1st and 2nd July! Who is this workshop for? Those who took part in the first week are encouraged to return, but we are keen to welcome anyone new who wants to get involved (though spaces are limited). What materials will I be working with? You can bring any work you started with us in the April week, or anything new that's emerged - a script, a song idea, a poem, a concept for a movement piece for inclusion in the festival. If you just want to take part as a performer or artistic collaborator with others and don't want to create your own piece that is also fine! There are also opportunities for making props/decorating set items with Raffi, our designer. So there will be plenty for everyone to do! What should I bring? Please bring a packed lunch each day plus water bottle (refills available). Dress comfortably. When is the festival? Ideally, we'd like all participants to also be available on 1st and 2nd July to take part in the festival in Banbury to help us showcase this amazing work! Please come along if you are able to.

The project is made possible due to support from Arts Council England, Cherwell District Council, Artsmark, The Noel Coward Foundation, Activate Learning and The Mill Arts Centre. Thank you for your continued support and generosity.
