One to One Mentorship

We are currently offering free one to one online mentorship to young people during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mentorship programmes are designed collaboratively with participants to reflect their needs and aspirations and delivered by our experienced staff.

Our young people are:

  • Creating poetry

  • Songwriting

  • Scripting plays

  • Devising Stand Up Comedy routines

  • Writing stories

Drama Workshops (Ages 11-25)

Each week during term time we deliver workshops for young theatre makers and we are always excited to welcome new members to our company. Our workshops are open to anyone with an interest in theatre.

We're delighted to have returned to covid-secure face to face drama workshops with our new term starting on Monday 6th September.

Workshops for our youth theatre (11 to 16 years) take place on Mondays from 5.15pm to 6.30pm.

Workshops for our young company (17 to 25 years) take place on Mondays from 6.45pm to 8pm.

If you aren't yet taking part and would like to, just drop us a line at and we'll send you all the relevant sign up forms.

We are proud to offer bursaries for all of our activities. Do ask if you require one to take part.

Classes are held at Banbury & Bicester College, Broughton Road, OX16 9QA with accessible entry to the theatre.

Professional Skills Workshops (Ages 11-25)

Each term we offer specialist 'Professional Skills' workshops, led by industry professionals on a range of performance disciplines, including:

  • Stage Combat

  • Physical Theatre

  • Vocal Technique and Accents

  • Clowning and Slapstick

  • Screen Acting

  • Stand Up Comedy

Workshops are open to all aged 11+ and free to CTC members. 

We hope to shortly announce a new season of online professional skills workshops, keep checking back for more information.

Auditions Preparation Classes
(Ages 16-25)

During the Winter and Spring terms CTC members interested in applying for drama schools are invited to attend intensive classes on auditions preparation. The sessions include assistance with:

  • Identifying cast type

  • Choosing contrasting monologues

  • Preparing a speech using Stanislavskian and Uta Hagen techniques

  • Shakespeare analysis and performance support

  • Interview technique

Cherwell Theatre Company have a long standing history of providing this support to our members and our alumni have trained at many prestigious drama schools including RADA, Mountview, The Central School of Speech & Drama, Italia Conti, Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and the New York Academy of Dramatic Arts. 

We hope to restart these workshops in September, if it is safe to do so

After school drama clubs (Ages 5-11)


Our after school clubs run weekly during term time at


Queensway School, Banbury (Mondays)

William Morris School, Banbury (Tuesdays)

Harriers School, Banbury (Thursdays)

Middleton Cheney Primary (Fridays)

Each term, participants will develop their performance skills with our experienced facilitators, improve their confidence and embark on fun storytelling projects with their class mates including plenty of games and heaps of fun!

The cost is £3 per session at each school. We are proud to offer bursary places to those that need them to take part- just drop us a line:

Drama Adventures (Ages 2-5)


Thursday mornings from 10am-11am at the Sunshine Centre, Banbury


Join us for exciting early years drama adventure workshops for 2-5 year olds! Each week, children will embark on different adventures through drama, storytelling, craft activities, music and fun! 

Sessions must be booked in advance through the centre and are £5 per family. 

Creative Workshops with Banbury Mosque

We're excited to announce a new weekly class for girls aged 11+ delivered in partnership with our friends at Banbury Mosque, and with support from Cherwell District Council and Artswork.

Participants will work with two fantastic facilitators to create their own stories, poems and plays, with opportunities to try illustration and animation too!
