February Play in a Week (Ages 12+)
Join CTC over the February half term and create your own Shakespeare Cabaret!
Working with CTC's Artistic Director and an actor from the RSC, you will work on classic texts and stories resulting in two performances!
Rehearsals will include:
Speaking Shakespeare's verse and prose
Imabic pentameter, verse analysis and poetic conventions
Scene Study and performance
Irony and ambiguity in Shakespeare
Comedy and Tragedy

Drama Workshops (Ages 11-25)
Each week during term time we deliver classes for young theatre makers. Our classes are open to anyone with an interest in theatre.
Classes for our youth theatre (11 to 16 years) are held at Banbury Studio Theatre, Banbury College on Mondays during term time, from 5.15pm to 6.45pm.
Classes for our young company (17 to 25 years) are held at Banbury Studio Theatre, Banbury College on Monday’s during term time, from 6.45pm to 8.15pm.
Participants will work towards one showcase or performance project each term, and one large-scale community production each year.
In school holidays we run 'Play in a Week' productions of contemporary plays to give participants the experience of working within the model of a professional theatre company.
Recent projects include: Fright night, MYTH, Gargantua, The Bunker Plays, The Monstrum, The Wind in the Willows, The Boy Preference and Henry V
The cost to take part is £60 per term. We are proud to offer bursary places to those that need them to take part- just drop us a line:
Professional Skills Workshops (Ages 16-25)
Each term we offer specialist 'Professional Skills' workshops, led by industry professionals on a range of performance disciplines, including:
Vocal Technique and Accents
Clowning and Slapstick
Workshops are open to all aged 11+ and free to CTC members. Guests are also welcome.
Auditions Preparation Classes
During the Winter and Spring terms CTC members interested in applying for drama schools are invited to attend intensive classes on auditions preparation. The sessions include assistance with:
Identifying cast type
Choosing contrasting monologues
Preparing a speech using Stanislavskian and Uta Hagen techniques
Shakespeare analysis and performance support
Cherwell Theatre Company have a long standing history of providing this support to our members and our alumni have trained at many prestigious drama schools including RADA, Mountview, The Central School of Speech & Drama, Italia Conti, Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and the New York Academy of Dramatic Arts.

After school drama clubs (Ages 5-11)
Our after school clubs run weekly during term time at
Queensway School, Banbury (Mondays)
William Morris School, Banbury (Tuesdays)
Harriers School, Banbury (Thursdays)
Middleton Cheney Primary (Fridays)
Each term, participants will develop their performance skills with our experienced facilitators, improve their confidence and embark on fun storytelling projects with their class mates including plenty of games and heaps of fun!
The cost is £3 per session at each school. We are proud to offer bursary places to those that need them to take part- just drop us a line:
Drama Adventures (Ages 2-5)
Thursday mornings from 10am-11am at the Sunshine Centre, Banbury
Join us for exciting early years drama adventure workshops for 2-5 year olds! Over 7 sessions, children will embark on different adventures through drama, storytelling, craft activities, music and fun!
6th February: Astronauts - To infinity and beyond!
13th February: We're going to the circus!
27th February: Under the sea!
5th March: Superhero training camp!
12th March: Join a pirate crew!
26th March: Jungle explorers!
2nd April: We're going on a bear hunt!
Sessions must be booked in advance through the centre and are £5 per family.
