A Home for Harmony

A Home for Harmony, a new musical play created for early years children by Cherwell Theatre Company, features an endearing tale written by Renata Allen complemented by Joshua Baldwin's engaging music.

Collaborating with Dogs for Good, The Oxfordshire, Northamptonshire and Warwickshire Library Service, and Home-Start, this production caters to diverse community venues, including libraries, schools, and a shopping centre unit, offering accessibility to diverse families.

Focused on a heart-warming animal story, A Home for Harmony explores themes of emotional resilience and confidence-building through social play. The show promises an inclusive experience, with accessible elements for audiences with Special Educational Needs and Disabilites (SEND), including sensory and musical components, Makaton sign, and non-verbal storytelling.

In Summer 2024, we will develop and tour this new musical play with families and young children to help them explore and label their emotions and to build confidence through social play.

A Home for Harmony follows the story of a disabled person named Sam, and their loyal assistance dog, Bouncer. Their happy home is disrupted when one day, a stray cat; Harmony, appears on their doorstep, and is welcomed into their family. This act of kindness results in Bouncer’s growing unhappiness and frustration, leading to a rift forming between the pair. However, when an unexpected event leaves Sam missing, the
pets must overcome their differences, rescue their beloved owner, and face a pivotal decision: can they learn to live together in Harmony?
